It’s no secret, the holidays are definitely our favourite times of the year. The parties, the bubbly, mom’s cookies…

But when it comes to fitting in your dress on new years, the last thing you want is to start off the year feeling uncomfortable and sluggish. So after consulting our “fit friends”, we have rounded up the 5 best tips to staying healthy during the most indulgent season of the year.

1. USE BREAKFAST AS YOUR DETOX

Use breakfast as the health break you need. Load up on vitamins with healthy smoothies. Try to fill up on the good stuff so you don’t get hungry and snack on grandma’s apple pie later on.

2. BRING A SALAD

Offer to bring a salad to the party so you can insure you will have a healthy option. Make it a good one so you don’t feel like your missing out. Try this festive kale salad recipe. You’d be surprised, it’s always a hit at parties.

3. STAY HYDRATED

Try alternating between bubbly and sparkling water. You’ll avoid a hangover and the extra sugar.

4. WEAR SOMETHING FITTED

There’s nothing like wearing a fitted dress or your “skinny” pants to stop you from over indulging. Not only will you look good, but you’ll feel good about yourself the next morning.

5. MOVE!

Workout routines have a tendency to go out the window during the holidays. It’s normal, gyms are usually closed during the holidays and trainers should get holidays too right? So get creative. Escape the craziness and go for a post dinner walk, or lace up your skates and get everyone to join in on the fun.
